LUCST: A novel toolkit for Land Use Land Cover change assessment in SWAT+ to support flood management decisions

چکیده

Land Use Cover (LULC) change is widely recognised as one of the most important factors impacting hydrological response river basins. SWAT+, latest version Soil and Water Assessment Tool, has been used extensively to assess impacts LULC change. However, process making assessing such changes in SWAT+ often cumbersome non-intuitive, thereby reducing its usability amongst a wider pool applied users. We address this issue by developing user-friendly toolkit, Change SWAT + Toolkit (LUCST), that will: (1) allow end-user define various scenarios their study catchment, (2) run model with specified changes, (3) enable interactive visualisation different output variables. A good System Usability Score (79.8) positive feedback from end-users promises potential for adopting LUCST future studies. https://youtu.be/QygBidYr4cQ . • an open-source, locally hosted, JavaScript application SWAT+. GUI allows editing & interpreting files relevant Visual analytics have facilitate easier detection catchments. enhances accessibility scenario modelling complexity.

Land use /land cover change in a hydrologic regime using swat model-A Review

The study has shown the integration of SWAT with GIS and remote sensing tool are helpful analyze and evaluate spatiotemporal land use/cover dynamics. It has also shown that Arc SWAT is an effective tool in analyzing the impacts of land use/cover changes on stream flow in areas with limited readily available data. The study also revealed that Hydrologic simulation models are very essential way u...

Modeling Land-use and Land-cover Change

Models are used in a variety of fields, including land change science, to better understand the dynamics of systems, to develop hypotheses that can be tested empirically, and to make predictions and/or evaluate scenarios for use in assessment activities. Modeling is an important component of each of the three foci outlined in the science plan of the Land-use and -cover change (LUCC) project (Tu...

Assessment of climate and land use change impacts with SWAT

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) is a deterministic continuous-time semi-distributed hydrological model for application at the river basin scale. The model was developed by the USDA Agricultural Research Service in the early 1990s based on Simulator for Water Resources in Rural Basins (SWRRB) and including routing procedures from Routing Outputs To Outlet (ROTO) tool (Arnold et al. 199...

A multilevel analysis of effects of land use policy on land-cover change and local land use decisions

Drylands, which occupy more than 40% of the Earth’s land surface, are highly susceptible to degradation. It is important to understand causes, mechanisms, and environmental consequences of dryland ecosystem degradation. Land use policies are known to play a critical role in driving land cover changes, as well as in mitigating land degradation and promoting sustainable development in drylands. W...
